Imagine that you are happily living in your mobile home and suddenly the owner of the park where you live does one of the following:
| |
Nearly doubles your rent |
| |
Orders you to move your home out without giving a reason |
Both of these have actually occurred recently!
Or suppose the local electric company decides mobile home owners should pay more for service than site-built homeowners. Or, the federal government proposes that all age 55+ parks must provide facilities for assisted living meal service - the cost of which would have to be added to your rent! Can you, as an individual, do anything about this sort of thing?
The answer is NOT MUCH!
However, as a large group of mobile home and R.V. owners, AAMHO CAN DO SOMETHING. In fact, it has played a major role in overcoming these particular problems, all in the recent past.
Please take a moment and read about AAMHO and how YOU can join us, so that with your support, we can be stronger and more influential in our efforts to secure and improve our mobile home and R.V. lifestyle.

Q. WHAT IS AAMHO? AAMHO is a federation of 170 homeowners associations from mobile home parks throughout the state. There are about 20,000 individual members, including some who live in parks without a park homeowners association.
Q. WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF AAMHO? It is a non-profit organization representing the interests of manufactured home and R.V. owners in Arizona.
Q. HOW DOES AAMHO ACCOMPLISH ITS PURPOSE? AAMHO is recognized as the mobile home owner’s and R.V. owner's main representative by the State Legislature and Administration, and is called on to serve on many commissions and boards concerned with our mobile home lifestyle. Much of the critical work is accomplished by lobbying for our interests in the State Legislature.
Q. HOW ARE INDIVIDUALS REPRESENTED? Mobile home park and R.V. owners associations are grouped into geographic Districts, and each District elects a Director to the AAMHO Board of Directors. Statewide officers are elected at an annual meeting and also serve on the Board of Directors. All of these people are volunteers. There is a paid staff of two plus a Registered Lobbyist led by the Board of Directors.
Q. WHAT HAVE BEEN THE MAJOR ACCOMPLISHMENTS OF AAMHO IN THE PAST? It has accomplished many things, but the most important achievement was the successful lobbying in the Arizona Legislature to secure passage of the Arizona Mobile Home Parks Landlord Tenant Act and the Recreational Vehicle Space Rental Act, which secures your basic rights as a renter in a park.

Modified the Mobile Home Parks Landlord Tenant Act (LLT Act) so it now provides a major disincentive to park owners considering large rent increases. Homeowners can get up to $10,000 from the RELOCATION FUND to move their homes due to a large rent increase.
Passed the Recreational Vehicle Space Rental Act giving basic rights to R.V. park tenants who remain in the same space for more than 180 days
Park owners must now offer four-year leases if requested by the tenant.
Park managers must have continuing education.
Prospective tenants must be given a three-year history of the park rents.
AAMHO financially backed a homeowner in a successful Arizona Supreme Court hearing. The homeowner was being evicted without any cause. AAMHO was successful in lobbying for clarification of the eviction law so that no one can be evicted without good cause.
AAMHO sponsors educational workshops throughout the state for mobile home owners.
AAMHO participates on a mediation committee that can help resolve disputes with landlords.
